Teen Counseling in Farmington, UT
Help for focus, rejection sensitivity, and perfectionism
More in Control
Handle Setbacks
Confident, Not Perfect
Bright, Capable, and Stuck
Your teen is bright and capable, but something keeps getting in the way. Maybe it’s focus, organization, and follow-through. Maybe they take rejection hard or push themselves to be perfect. Often it’s all of these.
These are the same patterns I see in adults, caught earlier. Catching them now can save years of struggle later.
What Parents Notice
Falling behind even though they’re capable
Procrastinating, then panicking
Crushed by criticism or a bad grade
Taking it hard when a friend pulls away
All-or-nothing: if it can’t be perfect, why try
Feeling stuck on how to help

A Coaching Style Teens Connect With
I help teens understand their brain and their feelings in plain language, and we build confidence through small wins.
- Practical tools for focus, planning, and follow-through.
- Plain language about how their brain and feelings work.
- Small wins that build confidence.
How Parents Are Involved
Parents are often the most powerful part of the change. Here is how we work together.
We Start Together
The first session includes your teen and you. We talk about goals and how therapy will work, and we agree up front on what stays private and what gets shared.
Your Teen Gets Their Own Space
Most sessions are one-on-one. Teens who take criticism hard or push for perfect need a place where they don’t have to perform or impress anyone, including their parents.
You Stay in the Loop
We do regular parent check-ins, usually every few sessions. You hear about themes, progress, and how to help, not word-for-word details. Safety concerns are always shared right away.
Parents Get Coaching Too
I help you support focus and follow-through without nagging, respond calmly to big emotions, stop rescuing in ways that keep anxiety and perfectionism going, and praise effort and progress, not just results.
Family Sessions When They Help
Sometimes we bring everyone together to practice a skill, repair a rough patch, or get on the same page.
Common Concerns
“They’re just lazy.”
Usually they’re overwhelmed, not unmotivated.
“They’ll grow out of it.”
Some do, but many carry it into adulthood.
“Therapy means something’s wrong with them.”
It’s learning skills most of us were never taught.
Your teen is capable. Let’s help them feel more in control and less stuck.
